What do you have?

"And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil." (2 Kings 4:2) The journey to self actualization begins with self discovery. To become what you are destined to be you must first discover what exactly it is you are destined to be. I have come to realize that success is not usually as a result of the lack of dreams. Most people have dreams - big dreams at that! But failure, frustration and lack set in when people fail to discover how they can actualize their dreams. The truth of the matter is that we all have something! God has not created anybody without depositing a unique gift or talent in them. To become successful in life we must look back into ourselves and answer the rhetorical question, "What do I have?". At this moment, at this instant, at this point in my life; what do I have? Not tomorrow, not in five years time. Now! What exactly do I have right now to start pursuing my dreams? What exactly do I have now to begin with? Everybody has something. You have something! It might not be as big or attractive or as fanciful as the other person's; but you definitely have something. And guess what, what you have is enough. If you can take it up and decide to put it to work, you will be marveled at the result..

The wife of the prophet went to Elisha for help, and Elisha asked her, "What do you have in your house?" Friend, there is no way God can start helping us until we discover what we have. There is nothing God can do for us until we pick up what we have. When Moses was being sent to rescue the Isralites, he was paralyzed and rendered inoperative by fear of Pharaoh; and to begin helping him, God asked him, "What do you have in your hand?". The first step to recovery is discovery. What do you have?
