Stepping into abundance (part 5) - Plugging the leak

"And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts." (Mal 3:11) One of the most annoying things in life is a leaking tap, a leaking shower or the silent drip-drip of anything that just wouldn't hold. The word "leak" is a negative word. It stands for an occasion when something that was meant to be contained gets out. In today's IT driven world, individuals and corporations can attest to the danger of a leaked video, a leaked message - an exposure of something that was meant to be kept secret and secured. Lives have been lost; destinies destroyed; panic and pandemonium set out as a result of a leakage. There is a universal corporate awareness to constitute response groups whose job include preventing leakage of any kind or at least plugging them as soon as they occur. If only we could translate this same habit and attitude towards our spiritual and financial life!.

In Malachi 3, the Bible makes it clear how financial leakages occur - what causes them, who plugs them and how they are plugged. Disobedience to the word of God initiates an invisible financial leakage. It is most times very difficult to notice that this leakage has started until it is too late. Just like every leakage, it drips little by little so that at first the wastage being incurred seems negligible. But as time goes on, you will begin to feel the effect.

People who disobey the instructions of tithe and offering often feel like there is no leakage going on in their finances, but I assure you there is. These things I am telling you are not some stuff I read in a book. They are testimonies of my personal experience. There are devourers all around you hoping to destroy the works of your hand. You can't pray away the devourers, you tithe them away. There is nothing you can do to stop them from coming; but you can do something to keep them from affecting you and your business. God wants you to prosper and live in abundance. But none of that will be possible if your pocket, finances or business is leaking. You have to plug the leak.

The only way to plug the leakage of devourers is to invite God into your finances through tithing and giving offering. God said, "I will rebuke the devourer...". It is God's job to rebuke the devourers, not yours. Your job is to pay your tithe and offering. God actually said "Try me in this!". I don't know about you, but if God said I should try Him in something, you bet I am going to do that. And ever since I started trying God through tithing and offering, He has never failed me. And I want this to be your experience and testimony too. May God's abundance be your portion.
