The unasked questions

"When Jesus saw him stretched out by the pool and knew how long he had been there, he said, “Do you want to get well?" (John 5:6, MSG) Beneath our nice dresses and loud Hallelyahs, are things we are going through which nobody knows about. Every one of us, in spite of how complete and composed we look on the outside, is full of imperfections in our inside. Problems are a big part of who we are. Battles and challenges confront us daily and we are continually humbled by our "thorn in the flesh". That is why we are always full of questions..

I remember thinking as a child the questions I would ask God if I had an opportunity to meet Him face to face. If God calls you up to heaven and says, "you have one hour, ask me any question and I will give you the answer". I bet you will be full of questions. Questions nobody has ever heard you ask. Questions nobody even knew were on your mind. The unasked questions of your life. Will you like to know why you prayed and fasted for a child and God didn't give you? Or you will like to know why your parents died when you were eight years old. Or why God allowed your child or mother to die. Will you like to know why life turned out the way it did? Why you couldn't get a university admission for five years?

One day, Jesus was walking down the Sheep Gate in Jerusalem near a pool, and He met a man with so many unasked questions. This man has been lying by the pool of Bethsaida for thirty-eight years of his life. The Bible didn't tell us at what age the man came to the pool, but if he came there at the age of twenty and stayed there another thirty eight years, you can do the math. This man laid at one spot. Life rendered him immobile, confined to one spot, one circumstance, one job, one sickness, same financial status for thirty-eight years. The Bible said he was an invalid! I bet you he had lots of questions.
