"Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me." (Psa 119:133) The greatest problem we have in this world is not global food shortage, or deteriorating of the ecosystems by fossil waste, or terrorism or political corruption. The greatest problem any of us has is not hunger, or fear of death, or poverty or sickness. Man's greatest problem both at the general and individual level is and has always been sin. The day we defeat and overcome sin completely is the day we will be free from all our other problems. Man's problems started when he sinned, and it will also stop when he stops sinning. This may sound very simplistic so much that one would say if sinning is the cause of all these problems let us stop sinning. The problem here is that while it is true that we willingly sinned the first time, it is no longer possible for us to top sinning willingly because when sin comes in; it doesn't just hang around, it takes over. Sin possesses and takes dominion. .
Jesus said, "Whosoever that sins is a slave" (John 8:34). So even though, we began sinning on our own free accord, it is not possible to stop sinning on our own accord. Something has to give for us to become free of the powers of sin. Something has to be done to reverse the effects of the powers of sin in our lives. When sin comes in, it takes over. And with it comes comes all the other evils we are experiencing.. The Psalmist said "let not iniquity have dominion over me". If we must be free of our problems we must realize their root and tackle then from there.
The chief of all our problems is sin. To be continued…
