One of the fascinating things about God's miracles is that He often starts with something ordinary. .

 

“This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory.”
— John 2:11 (KJV)

At Cana, Jesus turned ordinary water into something extraordinary.

When God wanted to use Moses, He asked him:

“What is that in thine hand?”

It was only a rod.

When God wanted to provide for the widow in 2 Kings 4, He asked what she had in her house.

She had only a little oil.

Again and again, God demonstrates that He can use what appears insignificant.

Sometimes we are waiting for something extraordinary before we believe God can use us.

We say:

“If I had more money…”

“If I had a bigger platform…”

“If I had better connections…”

“If I had more resources…”

“If I had more education…”

Then I could make a difference.

But God often begins with what is already in your hand.

Your gift.

Your skill.

Your idea.

Your business.

Your voice.

Your experience.

Your little resource.

Your willingness.

The miracle may not begin with what you wish you had.

It may begin with what you already have.

The disciples had five loaves and two fish.

It was not enough to feed thousands.

But when placed in Jesus' hands, it became enough.

This is a powerful principle:

What is insufficient in your hands can become sufficient in God's hands.

Stop despising your beginning.

Stop saying, “It is too small.”

Stop believing that God needs something impressive before He can work.

The question is not always:

“What do I have?”

The better question is:

“What am I willing to place in God's hands?”

Your ordinary can become extraordinary when surrendered to God.

 

Reflection

• What has God already placed in my hands?

• What am I calling “too small” that God could use?

• Have I surrendered my resources and abilities to God?

 

Prayer

Father, help me to recognize what You have already placed in my hands. Remove the mindset that I need more before You can use me. Take my ordinary gifts, resources, and abilities and use them for extraordinary purposes. In Jesus' name, Amen.

 

Daily Declaration

What I have is enough for God to use.
My gifts matter.
My resources matter.
My willingness matters.
I place what I have in God's hands.
God can produce extraordinary results through ordinary things.
Amen.
