"Looking unto Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith..." (Heb 12:2) Have you ever wondered why there are so many religions in the world today? There is only one God, yet lots of religious movements and organizations supposedly worshipping this same God. Does it mean that God was not clear as to how He wants to be worshipped? Does it mean that God did not specify the right religion? Why do we have so many of them and why do they all claim to worship God? What exactly is the focus of religion? Now understand this, many religions believe and worship the one true God, the maker of the heavens and the earth. Even our fore fathers in their idolatrous ways believed in the existence of the Almighty God, yet they worshipped other small gods. The Jews would not have had a problem if the church was just preaching the existence of the One true God. But where their problems with the church arose was that they were preaching that Jesus is God. They were worshipping Jesus. Healing the sick in the name of Jesus. Praying in the name of Jesus. Singing and worshipping in the name of Jesus. And that to the Jews was a great blasphemy. Now, you have to understand that they knew Jesus from childhood. They knew His mother; knew where He attended high school. Some of them attended his "bar mitzvar". And now they were to turn around and accept Him as God. They were to turn around and believe that this same Jesus was the God that their fathers - Abraham, Isaac and Jacob worshipped? It was an incredibly difficult pill to swallow. But the difficulty did not arise from the fact that it was not true; their difficulty arose from their lack of understanding of the word of God and their loss of focus of their religion. .
Simply put, the focus of our faith is Jesus. Any teaching, practise, belief and worship that does not point to Jesus and reveal His Lordship, Godship and Rulership is antichrist. We are no different from any other religion if we lose the message of Christ. The whole Bible is about Jesus. The whole concept of salvation is about Jesus. Everything is about Him. He is the author and the finisher. Keep the focus.
