"Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever." (Psa 107:1) "Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus." (1 Thess 5:18) These past two weeks has been one of thankfulness to me. When God promised His abundance this month of September, I had no idea it was going to be this big. God has practically re-written the history of the Eke Kalu's family. I have discovered the new meaning of the word "Thanksgiving". It goes beyond singing a few choruses or coming out to the front of the congregation to tell the story of God's goodness. It transcends throwing a survival party and inviting friends and loved one over to eat and be merry. Thanksgiving is a lifestyle, a culture, a way of life. As this month ends today, God asked me to remind you to be thankful!.
The Psalmist declared that God is good. This same declaration used to be a universal point of view. But these days, with the rise in satanism, worldliness and blasphemy (as prophesied in the Bible) there have been cases of people who have ruthlessly accused God of not being good, of being evil, of being partial, of being inconsiderate - these are just a few of the words that have been used against God. But, does that change the nature of God? The answer is no! God is good. His goodness does not depend on whether we agree or not. It does not depend on whether He answers our prayers or not. It does not depend on whether He pleases us or not. He is just good! That is why He is God. Understanding God in this perspective will enable us live a life of thankfulness. "Be thankful in all circumstance", Paul says.
Now, even those who do not "see" the goodness of God are lying to themselves. God has given them life, breath, a voice to speak out their blasphemy; and even eyes to see the world around us. Yet, besides giving us all these rudimentary necessities of life, God still goes out of His way to provide us our needs! Like this month, that He has greatly showered us His abundance. ANd, I am sure that if you followed our lessons this month, and lived by them, you must have experienced that abundance. It may not have flowed in in a rush; but it has started! God has showered me with His abundance. This month has been a great month of testimony to me. I am truly thankful to God; and if you truly believe in your heart without any shadow of doubt that God is good, then you ought to join me. Let's be thankful!
Prayer
