Focus - an act of faith

"But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid..." (Matt 14:30) "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith..." (Heb 12:2) Our focus is everything to us. It determines what we see, where we go, what our priorities are, and what we give our time and energy to, and how much we commit to those things. It is no coincidence that when Peter began focusing on the wind, he began sinking....

Why did he start to sink? The Bible records that he became afraid. What we focus on determines what goes on in our mind. What or whom we focus our attention on determines whether we operate from a place of faith or from a place of fear.

All the while Peter was walking on water, his focus was on Jesus - the author and the finisher of our faith. The Bible says "Looking unto Jesus". The New International Version (NIV) says "Fixing your gaze on Jesus". In other words, focus on Him, on His word, His promises, His love, His grace, His sacrifice on the cross, His truth!

Jesus cares so much about you, and He wants you to walk victoriously upon the troubled waters of your life. But this can only be possible when you focus on Jesus.

I charge you today to focus on Jesus. I dare you to put your faith to work and stop listening to the boisterous wind. Stop looking that the troubled waters - fix your gaze on Jesus and you will be victorious.

God bless you, as I await to hear your testimonies.
