Preparing for restoration (part 1) - take a count

"Saul said to the people who were with him, "Number now and see who has gone from us." And when they had numbered, behold, Jonathan and his armor bearer were not there" (1 Sam 14:17) "So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." (Psa 91:2) I heartily welcome us to this month of restoration. God is set to restore everything we may have lost in the course of our life. This is a strong promise and a prophecy from the throne of grace. God is set to bring back. And today God has laid it in my heart to discuss the first step towards experiencing this great restoration. If we are to receive God's restoration, we must first take count, take a census. We must first sit down to articulate our losses. We must take an inventory to identify exactly the things that are missing. This is not just an important thing to do, it is a necessary thing to do! .

Life and its numerous activities can be very demanding and very distracting. It is so easy to get lost in the daily tiki-taka of life. Giving and taking, coming and going, leaving and staying, talking and keeping mute - lots of polarizing action that contradicts each other and also affect our ability to balance the sheet. How much have we given, and how much have we taken? Without a proper recording and taking of account, we will easily get lost in the numbers and statistics.

David said "Teach me to number my days". I like to see it that it is not just numbering of the days that matters. We have to also number all the other things that form parts of our days. "Teach me to number". Period. Keeping count is very challenging, but it is an inevitable necessity for restoration. What exactly have you lost? Can you take a moment to really take a count? Until you have taken count to know exactly what is missing you are not yet ready for restoration!

Prayer

Lord, teach me to number that I may get a heart of wisdom. Amen
