Confusion (part 2) - the foolishness of God

"And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another." (2 Chro. 20:22-23) "...Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men..." (1 Cor. 1:25) The Google dictionary defines confusion as "the state of being bewildered or unclear in one's mind about something". And it goes other words like bewilderment, bafflement, perplexity, puzzlement, mystification, stupefaction, disorientation, befuddlement! Confusion arises when one cannot understand the purpose of an action, or when the action or reaction produced is completely different from what is expected. For instance, if you see a man who just lost his job on Friday shouting and praising God in church on Sunday instead of blaming God and refusing to go to church. Or when you see a sick person lying hopelessly in bed and declaring the goodness of God; or like when Jehoshaphat brought a group of choristers to the battle instead of a host of army. The enemy tends to get confused at such mixed signal, such irreconcilable reaction, such crass refutation of the obvious. The best way to disarm your enemy is to not give them the reaction they are expecting - confuse them! And when people become confused, they become paralyzed, disoriented and they tend to make mistakes. .

It was Sun Tzu (The Art of War) who said that "the whole secret lies in confusing the enemy, so that he cannot fathom our real intent". And our God is the Master Battle Planner and the General who has never lost a battle. Exodus 15:3 says "The LORD is a warrior". Hallelujah! At a time in history, the people of Judah were besieged by three nations - Ammon, Moab and Seir. They were totally outnumbered with no chance of survival. When their general, Jehoshaphat enquired of the Lord what to do, God told him, we are going to use the confusion missile. If we must win the battle against our enemies, we must be very close to God and we must constantly enquire from God before making any move.

Heeding God's instruction, Jehoshaphat showed up to battle with choristers. It sounded foolish as a military strategy. But the foolishness of God is wiser than men. God will ask you to do something that seems foolish, obey; because that is where your victory will come from. The Bible says that when the three nations saw the choristers, they started killing themselves because God set ambushment against them. In other words, God attacked them. May God attack your enemies in Jesus name.

"But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong," (1 Cor 1:27)
