"That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him" (Eph 1:17) There are many names by which God the Father is called. He is Jehovah, LORD, King of kings, Almighty Father... He is also the Father of glory. This means that He is the originator of glory, the source of glory - glory emanates from Him. As the Father of glory, His children are - or should also be the children of glory. That is His earnest wish..
Paul, in speaking to the Ephesian Christians, opened his epistle with prayers. It was a heartfelt prayer of what he wanted God to do in the lives of those God-fearing people of Ephesus. Among his prayer points was the desire that God should reveal to them His glory. The truth is we do not know who God is until we have encountered His glory. We cannot claim to know God until our minds' eyes have been opened to see what is the riches His glory (v. 18).
God is an embodiment of glory. He is inseparable from His glory. You can never meet God and not see His glory. You cannot come in contact with Jehovah, you cannot spend time with Him and not have His glory rub off on you. After Moses met with God, His face literally shone as a result of the glory of God. God is the Father of glory, and we as His childen are the children of glory. So I have to ask, "Friend, where is your glory? Child of God. where has your glory gone?" Has it been sacrificed on the altar of worldliness? Has it been bastardized on the temple of secret sin - fornication, immorality, pornography, prayerlessness, worldly lusts and wanton desires.
Nothing stiffles the glory of God in our lives like sin. Nothing chokes the glory to death like sin. If we are to remain in constant flow with His glory, we must stay away from sin. Arise and shine for your light has come. If one is told to arise, it means that the person was previously down. God is saying the time for staying down is over. The time for meddling in sin is gone. The time for allowing the devil to keep you down is gone. Arise... for the glory of God is risen upon you. Receive the glory, and show forth the riches of your Father - the Father of glory
Prayer
Father, my Father - the Father of glory, may your glory continue to shine through me as your child. May I be a true child of glory in Jesus name. Amen!
