Lifted from within

"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." (Isa 40:31) The eagle is an exceptional creature. All through history people have observed and studied this bird in awe and amazement. Lots of books and research papers have been written explaining the uniqueness of this creature. Kings, nations, organizations have adorned their logos, currencies, emblems with impressions of this bird. And to crown it all, the Lord God Almighty, the maker of the heaven and the earth likens us His children to the eagle. One bird that stands out in contrast to the eagle is the chicken. Inspite of their striking physical similarities, the chickens are a sharp opposite of the eagles. Chickens like to move in crowds. They are crowd followers, easily influenced by public opinion. Chicken naturally squabble and fight over things in the chicken yard. Come to a poultry where chickens are kept, it is never quiet. They are always squabbling and quarreling with each other. Their eyes are always fixed on the ground as they walk. They are always scratching the dirt looking for something to eat. Even though they are birds, they cannot fly more than a few meters and cannot be airborne for more than a few minutes. Though they are equipped with everything they need to fly and be lifted, they chickens shortsightedness and lack of passion renders them docile and immobile. .

But the reason God likens us to eagles is because that is how He sees us. He has adorned us with greatness. We are built and designed to rule and soar. The eagle is the king of the sky. The eagle is a prestigious bird. Just looking at it, you can't help but feel the glory it carries. Our presence is meant to radiate a glorious aura. "His divine power has given us everything that patterns to life and godliness" (2 Peter 1:3). We are completely equipped. Nothing that we need is lacking. We have all we need to excel in our life. We are lifted from within. If we fail to reach our potentials, it is not because we are not equipped to, but because we have decided to live like the chicken - letting our passion get stiffled by quarrels and unnecessary minglings. Set yourself apart. Activate the power and passion in you. As this month of lifting is drawing to an end, God is asking you to get up and spread your wings. You will be amazed at how high you can fly.
