A life of compassion

"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion..." (Col 3:12) .

Welcome to February, 2022 | Our month of Compassion. Christianity is not a religion of receiving but rather a religion of giving. Let me expatiate. The very first foundation of our faith was laid by "For God so loved the world that He GAVE..." (John 3:16). When Jesus came to build on this foundation he said, "I the Son of Man did not come to be served (receive) but to serve(give)" (Matt 20:28). Hence to be truly a child of God and a follower of Jesus Christ, our life must be a life of giving. And no man can truly give or serve or be useful to another unless without compassion. The reason Jesus served so selflessly was because of compassion. "When He saw the multitude, he was moved with compassion..." (Matt 9:36).

What is compassion? Compassion means to empathize with someone who is suffering and to feel compelled to reduce the suffering. Compassion is seeing a random person carrying two heavy bags and offering to help them carry one. Compassion is seeing a brother who has been wearing one shoe for long and buying them a new one. Compassion is simply reaching out and being of service to another .

This month God is calling us to move and live with compassion as we always should. Your blessing is in the obedience.

Happy new month, and do have a great February!
