"He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes." (1 John 2:10-11) We have said a lot about making the divide between light and darkness. For some days now, we have becried the dangers of trying to mix up darkness and light because it is a chemical formula that simply doesn't work. The word of God will always say "Choose ye". Life is about the choices. 90% of what we encounter in life depends on the choices we make. And for many of us, we have sincerely made the choice to follow Jesus; we have truly made the choice to divide light from darkness - but what baffles us is that most times it is as if the division isn't working. It is as if the divider can't hold as we often see ourselves slipping through the divide to dabble in darkness. Today, we learn about love as the ultimate divider!.
When I declared that God had told me that this month is our month of love - The Agape, some of you may have misconstrued that to mean that we are going to be talking about relationships, boy love girl - girl love boy, husband love wife vice versa. It may have been a popular way to go; a way to get people's interest at its peek; but God wants to accomplish something else through this teachings about love. He wants to revive our love for Him because the Bible says that at the end time, the love of many will become cold (Matt 24:12). It is this coldness of love, this dearth of love that has resulted in the hypocrisy, insincerity, and mixture of light and darkness.
Look at what the Bible says in our text "He that loveth ... abideth in the light; but he that hateth... is in darkness." If we allow love and hate to co-exist in our heart, we are mixing light and darkness. The only way to experience through christianity is to become perfect in love. To become perfect in love means to love to the extent that there is no hate found in us; to completely eliminate all hate and sin from our heart and allow the agape to fill us to the brim, to totally expunge the darkness from our hearts so that the light may have absolute preeminence!
Are you wondering how you can totally expel darkness from your life? Are you wondering how to adapt to the theory of mutual exclusivity of light and darkness; considering how to pick a side and stay in it; it is simple - just love, love and love! If you love, you walk in light. Let all your action come from a place of love, and you will never walk in darkness.
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God " (1 John 4:7)
Prayer
O God help me to love and operate from a place of love at all time so that I will never have fellowship with darkness in Jesus name. Amen
