"Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me" (Psa 51:11) God cannot be separated from His presence. His presence is the complete manifestation of His efficacy. He is God in all: the all-sufficient God. In His presence is fullness of Joy and glory and honour. Living in His presence is our greatest accomplishment. If we lose His presence, we lose everything. All men are born equal. It is the presence of God that makes the difference. All prachers preach from the same Bible, it is the presence of God that makes the difference. The presence of God makes the impossible possible. It brings all things to pass. God's presence is everything. David knew this. The Apostle Paul knew this. We must also know this. David was nicknamed the man after God's own heart. It was not his righteousness that earned him the name. It wasn't his prowess or power or splendour or intelligence. It was his unending desire to seek the presence of God and to enjoy the presence of God. At one time he prayed, "One thing I ask of the Lord and this is what I seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord." (Psa27:4) This prayer unveils his desire to abide where God's presence abides. David loved and cherished and understood the importance of God's presence. All his life as a shepherd boy and as a king, he was set apart and distinguished by the power of God's presence. The presence of God is able to change everything that it comes in contact with. .
This is why when he sinned, when he lost communion with God, when he went astray from God's guidance; David greatest fear was not that God might punish him. It was not that God might deny him blessings. His greatest fear was not that God might strip him of his kingship. His greatest fear was that God might cast him out of His presence. David was saying, "You can do anything to me, but please don't cast me away from your presence". Your presence is all that I have. I am nothing without it.
