Preparing for restoration (part 2) - the power of specificity

""Saul said to the people who were with him, "Number now and see who has gone from us." And when they had numbered, behold, Jonathan and his armor bearer were not there" (1 Sam 14:17) Ever heard the saying, "There is strength in numbers"? Well, that statement is very correct in more sense than one. When people make this statement they usually mean to imply that there is strength in multitude or having more people on your side. But that statement is also true in the sense that there is strength in being able to put a number to how much you really want. For instance, instead of jut saying I need money; there is power in saying I need hundred thousand naira- adding number to it, adding specificity! This is the same reason people make budgets to know exactly how much ( expressed in specific numbers) to look forward to earning or spending. Today, we will look at how to tap into the power of specificity to unlock our restoration!.

Our central text centers on the story of Saul and his beloved son, Jonathan. It is truly revealing to realize how in the heat of battle Saul could not even notice that his son - the crown prince of his dynasty is missing. He simply had the feeling that someone was missing. He had the intuition that things were not as they should be, but he just couldn't place his finger on exactly what was missing. I thank God for the wisdom he exhibited by asking his people to take a count and get the specifics. He was truly paralysed to take further action or decision until he knew exactly who was missing.

Life is exactly like that. We can go through the day, the week, months and years without realising that somethings have fallen out of place. It is so easy to keep going on the euphoria of the moment without realising that we have lost the joy, the passion, the love, the vision. We can't just expect restoration, we must know to the minutest detail exactly what should be restored? Is it your health? Which part of your health? Is it your money? Exactly how much? Most Christians don't know that God is interested in the details - in the specifics. Until we tap into the power of specificity by expressing in actual tangible terms what exactly we have lost, restoration will only be a day dream. You can't reach your destination if don't know where you are going  in the first place!

God bless you as you get set for restoration.
