"John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:" (Luke 3:16) From our study of the behaviour of matter, we realize that for expansion to occur, heat must be applied! The primary causative agent for expansion is heat. Expansion does not happen by itself. It is this heat that causes the particles of the matter to vibrate faster and break off their bonds. Every expansion is birthed on the seat of a burning desire. When it is time for expansion to occur in your life, you will start feeling some sort of internal pressure or heat. Normally, you will start being unsatisfied with what used to satisfy you. When, for instance, it is time for a young man to get married, being single becomes so uncomfortable to him. All he can think about is how better his life will become if he gets married. This internal pressure or heat will not let him rest until he has achieved his purpose. There is a heat that accompanies every expansion and this heat will make you do everything within your power to bring about your growth. It is this heat that brings about passion, determination and total dedication to your cause. When you sense that heat, it is easy for expansion to occur. So the first law of expansion is "Do not force an expansion". If you try to force an expansion to occur on its own without the heat, it usually boomerangs adversely. The reason being that there was not enough passion behind it. You cannot force yourself to expand because you feel all your mates have expanded. Don't force your business to new branches if there isn't enough heat in the new locations to sustain that expansion..
Do you know what Jesus told His disciples as He was leaving. He knew that with everything He has taught and shown them, there was the tendency for some of them to rush off and try to expand the work without enough heat. So He warned them not to rush off and leave Jerusalem until they have received the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:4). The Holy Spirit will bring about the heat needed to expand their spirit (Matt 3:11). When it comes to carrying out and fulfilling spiritual purpose or assignment, the Holy Spirit is the Catalyst (the Heat) for that! Jesus was trying to teach them that trying to expand without enough heat will be detrimental. Remember that after Peter's first sermon, their number increased from 150 to over 3,000 persons just in one day. Imagine what could have happened if they were not ready and prepared to handle that expansion. It is unwise to try to expand without feeling this inner burn. So first before you try to expand, check your passion because expansion is about to shake every aspect of your being. You will lose some friends. You will become busier. You will make more sacrifice. You will sleep less. You will deny yourself some comfort and luxury to direct more money to your expansion. Simply put, you must be on fire for the expansion!
