A lesson from water

"Who kept the sea inside its boundaries as it burst from the womb," (Job 38:8, NLT) Today, I want to share a special lesson with you. It is still August, and God is gradually expanding us in this month of expansion. I personally have been feeling the expansion on every side and every part. You are destined for expansion beginning this month. As you study God's word and principles with us in this month, as you follow us in all the lessons for this month, you will learn everything you need to experience this growth and expansion. It is God's will and heart desire that you expand beyond your present borders. And I declare that it shall be so for you in the name of Jesus. Today's lesson is an amazing lesson from water as it relates to expansion. Perhaps, coming from a science background has given me better insight to the concept of expansion; and the more I continue to compare these scientific principles to the wonderful and evergreen word of God, the discoveries are simply amazing. First you have to realize that water is one of the substances that can exist in all the three states of matter. What this means is that water can exist as solid (ice), it can exist as liquid (water) and it can exist as gas (steam). Naturally as we have learnt, heat causes all matter to expand and if the heating continues they can change state. For instance, when we heat ice (solid water) it melts into water (liquid), and when we heat water (liquid), it evapourates into steam (gas). But there is something interesting that happens with water. The lesson I want to share with you today is something scientifically called the "anomalous expansion of water"! .

The anomalous expansion of water is a tested and proven scientific notion which shows that When water is heated from between a temperature of 0 to 4 degrees, it contracts instead of expanding. That means when you heat an ice within the heat required to raise its temperature from 0 to 4 degrees, instead of the particles spreading out to occupy more space, they rather come closer together as if to say that they are trying to resist the expansion! At that small window, at that little heat level, the particles in water do everything they can to avoid spreading out. They resist the expansion. The implication is that if you stop heating the water at that point, you would have actually reduced its volume, instead of expanding it. And this behaviour which is only observable in water makes a big difference in nature and should peek our interest especially considering that almost everything around us and inside us consists of water. Our physical body is 60% water. Our brain and heart is 75% water. The earth is 71% water; even the air we breathe contains water. In many scriptures, the Word of God is likened to water. So any property exhibited by water must be of interest to us! Next time, I will delve into this strange behaviour of water and explain how it relates to us. Keep a date!
