Watch where you are going

"Those who are good travel a road that avoids evil; so watch where you are going - it may save your life" (Prov 16:17, GNV) Life is a journey. It doesn't matter whether we are aware of this fact or not; it remains true. We all set out in life with one purpose: to succeed, to "make it" (as they usually say), to reach the zenith of our accomplishment, to maximize our potential, to influence our world, to become powerful and recognised, to be rich and prosperous. The problem is not with what we have set out to accomplish, the problem is usually with how we are going about it. It is how we decide to go about getting what we want in life that determines whether we arrive there with our integrity and dignity intact, or NOT! This is why the Bible is telling us today to be mindful how we are going about in pursuit of our goals, to be careful of the roads and shortcuts we are taking towards success, to simply watch where we are going!.

All roads may lead to success, but not all road will guarantee you your integrity, morality, peace of mind; not all road will even guarantee you will remain a christian when you get to the end of the journey to success. The Bible says he that is mindful of his ways will preserve his life. In the journey of life, the end does not justify the means. It is the means that justifies the end. It is the way you go about pursuing success, promotion, a husband, a job that will determine if you will eventually enjoy that success, promotion, husband, job when it finally comes.

Have you heard the phrase, "selling one's soul to the devil"? It is as real as it gets. The devil is standing at the road of life collecting souls in exchange for cheap success that doesn't last. The victims of this devilish scheme are usually the impatient ones. They are like the daughters of Lot who out of their impatience and lack of faith raped their father and gave birth to two imbecile children. Whatever is gotten wrongly, goes wrongly! This is something our politicians needs to know. It is something every pastor must know. It is something we all must have at the back our minds. God will take you on the right road road to your destiny if you trust in Him. His road may seem longer and full of ups and down; you will tempted at every corner to jump ship and follow the fast lane; but stay with God. "Those who are good travel a road that avoids evil"

Shalom!
