How to get faith (Part 1)

"And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith." (Luke 17:5) "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Rom 10:17) As we draw to the gradual end of the month, I will like to draw your attention back to the focus of this month which is faith. What is faith? How do you get faith? And how much faith should you have?.

In past messages this month, we have explained what faith is. In the message on Focus - an act of faith when we treated the story of Peter and the master, and saw how Peter's focus affected his faith and fate! Faith is simply belief in the word of God. An unwavering and unyielding belief in the word of God. It could be the word of God written in the Bible or a direct word from God spoken to you. Whenever we believe in the word of God and act as He has instructed us then we have faith.

Many people assume faith to be blind. They assume that people who are applying faith are acting recklessly without consideration to facts and reasons. But that is not faith. Faith is not blind. Faith is not baseless. Faith is based on the word of God. Faith is the demonstration through words and actions that you have absolute trust and confidence in what God says even when the visible facts say otherwise.

It is so easy to listen to what facts are saying. It is so simple to be moved by the things around you. But faith rests its anchor on the immutable word of God; and trust completely that what God says is true. That is faith! That is why the bible says that without faith it is impossible to please God (Heb 11:6). This means that without "absolute belief" in the word of God, you can't relate to God, and neither can God relate to you.

Tomorrow, i will give a simple breakdown on how you can get faith and become a man or woman of faith. It is that simple. God bless you
