Beyond harm

"Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." (Luke 10:19) .

The world is a scary place, and no doubt filled with dangerous people, dangerous places and dangerous things. And we tend to respond to all these dangers with fear! It's not our fault. Fear is a reflex reaction. It is something we don't think to do. It's something we have absolutely no control over.

The only thing we have complete control over is what we do when fear comes. What do you do when you are scared?! What do you do if a native doctor or a witch walks up to you and say, "I am going to kill you"? What do you do, child of God?

Here is what you do: Counter that fear with faith! Faith is a confidence that you will be safe and you will have what you prayed for because God's word said so. This is why it is important to hear, read and know God's word, because that is how you build faith. Just as you are reading this now, you can feel your faith rising. Do you think Daniel wasn't afraid when they said they were going to put him in a lion's den? Do you think Shedrach, Mishach and Abednego were not afraid when they saw the fire burning! But they countered their fear with faith. Now here is a word from God that should give you unshakable faith:

"Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: AND NOTHING SHALL BY ANY MEANS HURT YOU." (Luke 10:19)
