The true meaning of jealousy

"The women sang as they played, and said, "Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands." Then Saul became very angry, for this saying displeased him..." (1 Sam 18:7,8) Jealousy is the feeling of unhappiness over something that someone else has or what they have done. People who are jealous think that they are angry because the other person has something and they don't. But that is not really true. The truth is that jealous people are angry at the other person because they don't believe they can have the same thing! They are jealous of the other person's success because they are afraid they can't succeed..

When people are jealous, it is because they lack faith in themselves, in their abilities, in their effort, in their God. People who are jealous are actually scared inside.

They may exhibit fierce anger on the outside, act aggressively to portray strength, talk rashly to hide their true emotions - but deep down they are scared to death!

In life, you will meet people who are better than you; so if you are going to end up being jealous of everybody better than you, you might as well just give up on life right now and die.

Saul couldn't stand it that the women said he killed a thousand, and David - some poor shepherd country boy - killed ten thousands. But his anger and jealousy didn't change a thing. David still became king

Time to get rid of those hard feeling of jealousy. Time to get over yourself. Time to learn to rejoice when good things happen to others. Time to have some faith in yourself that your own is coming!
