Miracles are powerful. They capture attention. They generate testimonies. They can change circumstances. But there is something even more important than the miracle itself: The God behind the miracle. .
“This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.”
— John 2:11 (KJV)
Jesus performed His first recorded miracle at Cana by turning water into wine.
Why did He do it?
John tells us that through this miracle, Jesus “manifested forth his glory.”
This teaches us something important:
Miracles have a purpose.
God does not perform miracles simply to entertain people.
He does not perform miracles simply to make people excited.
And miracles are not trophies that make us look important.
Miracles reveal God's glory.
Throughout Scripture, miracles often accomplished several things.
They demonstrated God's power.
They confirmed God's Word.
They revealed God's identity.
They strengthened faith.
They brought deliverance.
They met genuine needs.
And ultimately, they directed attention toward God.
Consider the miracles of Jesus.
When He healed the blind, people saw His power.
When He raised Lazarus, people witnessed His authority over death.
When He calmed the storm, His disciples asked, “What manner of man is this?”
The miracle created a revelation of the Miracle Worker.
This is important because we can become so fascinated with miracles that we forget the One performing them.
We can become more interested in what God can give us than in who God is.
But the greatest miracle should always lead us closer to God.
If God heals you, give Him the glory.
If God provides for you, give Him the glory.
If God opens a door, give Him the glory.
If God delivers you, give Him the glory.
If God performs something extraordinary in your life, let your testimony point people toward Him.
The purpose of the miracle is bigger than the miracle itself.
The miracle is the sign. God is the destination.

Prayer
Father, help me never to become more fascinated by Your miracles than by You. Whenever You intervene in my life, may I give You all the glory. Let every testimony point people toward Your greatness and draw hearts closer to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Daily Declaration
God alone receives the glory.
His miracles reveal His greatness.
I will not worship the blessing above the Blesser.
My testimony will point people to Jesus.
Everything God does in my life will bring Him glory.
