"Think of it this way. If a father dies and leaves an inheritance for his young children, those children are not much better off than slaves until they grow up, even though they actually own everything their father had." (Gal 4:1, NLT) Babies are so cute. They are tender, innocent, lovely and adorable. Seeing a baby brings us close to the marvelous greatness of God. Everybody loves a baby; but nobody wants to see a 30-year old baby! As wonderful as it is to be born again, if you don't grow up you lose your relevance. With growth comes responsibilities, and with responsibilities comes relevance. The prayer of every parent is to see their children grow. A child's potential lies greatly on what he will accomplish when he grows up; but if the baby refuses to grow up, he crushes the hopes and expectation of the parents. If we who are human wants to see our children grow up so that they can be a blessing to us and so that we can watch them win the school 100m race, win the spelling bee, be the best dancer in the school calisthenics team, etc; so does God want us His children to grow up so that He can watch us do exploits. One of the greatest thing a child can do for his or her parents is to simply GROW UP! .

The Apostle Paul is an excellent writer. His mind is vivid with allegories and sharp lyrical pictures. Because of his great learning and social exposure, the Holy Spirit was able to use him in passing across vital information and spiritual truths to the body of Christ. Look at what the Holy Spirit said through this man. He said, "the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant" (Gal 4:1, KJV). This is a shocking revelation. If a child does not grow up, he or she is no different from a slave. In other words, there are certain blessings, privilledges, grace that God cannot give you until you grow up. Here we are not talking about physical growth, we are referring to spiritual growth. Your spiritual growth is a function of how much knowledge you have of God.

Daniel said, "They that know their God shall be strong and do exploits" (Dan 11:32b) . If a christian remains a baby, he is denying himself of certain blessings. This tells me that the reason some christians are not receiving the answer to the prayers they are praying is because they have not grown enough to handle that kind of blessing. No matter how much you love your three year old son, you cannot give him one million naira! You can give him ten naira, twenty naira, even fifty naira. People grow into blessings; and if the devil can stunt your growth he can rob you of some blessing.

Today, God wants you to grow up!
