"Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me." (Psa 119:133) I often wonder what the world would have been like without the word of God, without the written word of God, without the Bible. As I read the scriptures and draw inspiration from its power and wisdom, I often wonder how people who don't read the Bible manage to get by or survive this evil world. The word of God is the seed of our faith. It is the origin of all things that patterns to life and godliness. The only thing we need in this word is the word of God deeply engrafted into our mind and spirit. If we get that, everything else will follow. Jesus Himself said that the only thing man can live by is the word of God, not food (Matt 4:4). Physical food can only nourish our physical body. But the word of God nourishes our spirit, our mind and also our body. And the greatest of it all is that God's word in our heart is the antidote for a sinful life. "Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I may not sin against thee" (Psa 119:11). In the first part of this lesson, we talked about how sin is man's greatest problem. Well, the solution to that problem is the word of God! The main reason God orders our steps is so that we will not fall into sin; and He does that through His word. .
David said "Order my steps in thy word: and let not iniquity have dominion over me". You see, most times when we think about guided steps, we are often thinking of how God will guide us to prosper in our business, marriage, etc. But the primary purpose of God's guidance is not for material prosperity but for saving us from sin. The Bible says, "The steps of the righteous is ordereed by the Lord" (Psa 37:23). Now, we may read the wrong meaning into this by assuming that it is the righteousness of the man that causes God to order his step. But it is wrong. The right meaning to that scripture is that it is the ordering of the steps that makes the man righteous. When God orders our step, He does so through His word and the intention is to help us live a life that is above the reproach of sin.
May God order your steps in His word today!.
