Getting more peace

"Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord" (2 Peter 1:2) As children of God, we are supposed to be growing in everything that God has given us - that includes grace and peace. We are not supposed to have the same level of peace. As the days go by, we are supposed to grow in peace; we are supposed to get more peace. Peace is meant to be multiplied. It is supposed to grow geometrically. The Bible didn't say may peace be added to you, it said may it be multiplied to you. The problem most christian have when they read this portion of the scripture is after reading it they go to God in prayer and start praying, "O God multiply my peace. Give me more grace. Let grace and peace be multiplied in my life..." and blah blah blah. But that is a wrong prayer.

The growth in peace will occur, but it doesn't come by prayer. The Bible says it comes through the knowledge of God and Jesus. In other words, you get more peace and grace as you gain more knowledge of God. That is to say, peace and grace are directly proportional to knowledge; and not just any knowledge but the knowledge of God and Jesus. I like how it added Jesus after saying God. Because many people try to dispute the divinity of Jesus. They try to say that He isn't God. But this portion proves them wrong. It says to have peace , we must have the knowledge of Jesus. We must encounter Him, and we must let that encounter affect our lives and we must grow deeper in that knowledge. We must cultivate an affectionate relationship with Jesus. Without this, there can be no peace.

The New Living Translation says: "May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord". To attract more grace and peace, start searching for God more. And there is no greater source of getting the knowledge of God and Jesus than the Bible. Make it your personal guide and friend, and you will see peace multiplied in your life

Shalom!
