The real use of possessions

" They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need." (Acts 2:45 NLT) .

The early church was a spirit-filled church. They were the first people to witness the massive anointing of the Holy Spirit, and the result and manifestation in their life, their church and their community was explosive. But there was something else the Holy Spirit led them to do which we seldom talk about...Being led by the Holy Spirit they began selling off their property and possessions and sharing the money with those in need.

This creates a precedent upon which we may base the question: what truly is the real use of possessions? In a world filled with greed and selfishness, how does God expect us to use our possessions. In the simplest and shortest terms, God expects us to use our possessions to serve those in need. Our possessions could be money, talent, education, properties, etc. God wants us to deploy our possessions in the service of those in need , instead of simply amassing them for no use or for our personal use.

Our possessions can serve our family, friends, neighbors, community and our church. It doesn't matter where the need arises, we must be willing and excited to use our possessions to help. That is true service to God.
