"And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words." (Romans 8:26 NLT).
This scripture is a great encouragement. Have you ever wondered why some people can pray for hours, days or even weeks without stopping? It is by the empowering of the Holy Spirit. Prayer is a fellowship - the deepest fellowship that we can have with God. But we have two main weaknesses: we don't want to pray, and even when we see the need to pray, we have no idea what we should pray. Our first instinct is to start making a list of demands to God. Things we want Him to get done as soon as possible. People we want Him to kill for us, and those we want Him to preserve.
for us. Blah blah blah!
This is where the Holy Spirit comes in. The Spirit helps us in our weaknesses. The Holy Spirit actually prays for us. This isn't a passive situation where we do nothing and the Holy Spirit prays for us. No, what this means is that the Holy Spirit prays through us and with us. He leads us in prayers. He enables and empowers us to pray. The Holy Spirit becomes our prayer partner, and it is at that point that our prayers "availeth much!"
Have a blessed day!
