Jesus, my prayer partner (Part 2)

"My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." (1 John 2:1) "Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith will not fail..." (Luke 22:31) I want us to look at the subject of Jesus' prayer for Peter. Jesus made one of the most shocking revelation to His disciples using Peter as a case study. He addressed Peter while referring to all of them. He revealed to them that there is a satanic plan to destroy them, their lives, their ministries, their families, their health, etc. Jesus had known this all along that the moment He adopted them into His fold, satan began enacting an evil agenda to destroy them....

Satan would always seek to destroy what is good. He would always seek to destroy God's plan. Friend, the day you gave your life to Christ, satan initiated a counter measure to ensure that you never make it as a christian, to ensure that you never live a victorious christian life, to ensure that you never make heaven. He crafted schemes and placed obstacles along the way; he recruited agents and set them up at various junctions of your life to carry out his heinous plans against your life.

But Jesus has prayed for you! Wow! I want you to take a little moment and allow that to sink into you. Jesus has prayed for you. In John 17, Jesus dedicated an entire chapter to a prayer He made for you and me. Don't be scared of the devil any more. The prayer of Jesus is on your head, and it is effective. Jesus prayed that you be kept safe from the evil one (John 17:15); and God answered that prayer.

1 John 2:1 tells us that Jesus has not stopped praying for us. He is still working as an advocate, an intercessor on our behalf before the Father. He prays for us when we sin, when we have problems, when we are sick, when we are frustrated... He prays for us every time.

The subject of Jesus' prayer

Jesus told Peter, "I have prayed for you so that your FAITH will not fail". Jesus knew that as long as our faith does not fail, we will be victorious in life. The reason we do not fully receive the benefits of the prayers Jesus is making on our behalf is because we often let our faith fail. We easily lose faith. We doubt, we complain, we fear. But Jesus wants us to keep faith.

"They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever." (Psa 125:1)
