"But when God destroyed the cities of the valley where Lot was living, He kept Abraham in mind and allowed Lot to escape to safety" (Gen 19:29) As I read this scripture, I keep asking myself, "What exactly did Abraham do that made God keep him in mind?" What work, or great sacrifice or action did he take that so much endeared him to God. If I could learn that, then perhaps I could do the same, and get God to keep me in mind too. But that is where the story changed....
(If you missed the first part of this message, read it here: God will keep you in mind )
"Abram believed the LORD, and He credited it to him as righteousness" (Gen 15:6, Holfman Christian Standard Bible)
What many of us don't realise is that Abraham was not a special specie of the human race. He didn't possess any special ability that made it possible for him to relate with God. In fact he "was a man with a nature like ours" (James 5:17). But what endeared him to God was BELIEF. He believed God and it was counted unto him as righteousness. It was the day that Abraham demonstrated this level of belief and obedience that God made the decision to always consider Abraham in everything He does. It was that day that Abraham struck a cord in God's heart. It was that day that God gave Abraham the pass mark.
This was why God would later say, "I know Abraham" (Gen 18:19). In other words, God was saying: I trust Abraham. I know I can count on Abraham. He has proven it and I know it. That was why God kept Abraham in His mind
Friend, God will keep you in mind if He can prove your obedience. Abraham's belief in God was an act of faith, and a demonstration of obedience. Good wants to give you the same blessings and grace He gave to Abraham. He wants to make you a partaker of the Abrahamic covenant of grace and remembrance. But God has to know, "Can He count on you?". God will keep you in mind if He is convinced of your total dependence on Him. As you rise in obedience and submission to God's will today, may God keep you in mind; and send you blessings today.
You are lifted. God bless you
