"Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit [was] in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm." (Daniel 6:3) It is easier to attract favour from God and man if you are good at what you do. Favour is not a compensation for laziness or mediocrity. If you strive to be excellent at what you do, you will receive favour. I believe that if God wants to favour you, He deposits an excellent spirit or the spirit of excellence in you. As I study the scripture I realise that all the recipients of favour had this excellent spirit. Look at people like Joseph, Daniel, David etc. These people were so good in what they do that it was easy for favour to locate them. The Bible said of Joseph that because of him, God prospered his master's household. Joseph was such an excellent manager. Because of his excellence, Potiphar gave him control over everything in his house. This excellent spirit would later make him the ruler of Egypt. This is what I find interesting: God gave Joseph the ability to interpret Pharaoh's dream, but the spirit of excellence in him pushed him to go one step further. He didn't just tell Pharaoh the meaning of his dream, he provided a solution and advised him on what to do. If Joseph had just stopped at interpreting the dream, believe me, we wouldn't be reading about him today. .
Excellence makes you keep going when others decide to stop. It keeps driving you when people are waiting for you to landcrash. It fills you with so much ideas and inspiration that you can't even keep up with most times. If you have the spirit of excellence, you will surprise yourself positively each time. You will continually strive to be better today than you were yesterday. Excellence will take you to the top and keep you there.
As we usher in this month of excellence, my prayer is that God will release an oil for excellence over your life. It is time to manifest and show forth the glory of God in you. I bless you in Jesus name. May your life be decorated with excellence.
Stay blessed.
