Keep doing it

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." (Gal 6:9) The problem we have in today's world is that we expect instant result for everything. Everything has to happen fast or we lose interest. Our patience limit is in the lowest percentile range. We are a get-it-quick bunch. It is the same reason ponzi schemes and scams are prospering in our time. Even though we know they are not real but we are willing to risk it because of the promise of quick returns. Sports betting has sapped many of their zeal for hard work and due process. Why bother following the long road when you can place a bet with two hundred naira and win five million naira... all you have to do is beat the odds rights? But nothing good comes without some time lapse. The time lapse is the maturation stage; it is the gestation period. The period that prepares us for the victory. .

I used to think that once you start doing good, you will start receiving rewards. But the Bible says it is not so. You have to hang on. When you start doing good, at first, it doesn't seem like you are doing anything because you can see any rewards. You are paying your tithe and it doesn't seem like it is working. You are praying and fasting, it doesn't seem like you are winning. You are living a righteous life and abstaining yourself from sin and other godlessness but it doesn't seem like you are making any difference... And you are feeling like why bother?

God says don't get tired of doing good. Even though it doesn't seem like it is working. It will work at the proper time. In other words, there is a proper time when all your hard work will be rewarded. God hasn't lost sight of your good works. He hasn't forgotten them; and He will surely reward you.

David said "(May God) remember all your offerings..." (Psa 20:3). God will surely remember all your labour of love, and He shall reward you. All He demands is that you remain steadfast and don't give up. Stay on it. Hang on. You will reap a harvest if you don't give up!

"God is not unjust; he will not forget your work ..." (Heb 6:10)
