"The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm." (Exo 14:14, NLT) Every good soldier or general will tell you that battles are not won on the battlefield but inside the war room, where the plans, layouts, strategies are formulated, tested and adopted. This means to win you must understand the enemy, understand the battle terrain, and formulate a strategy that beats the defences of the enemy; a strategy that exploits his weaknesses and maximizes your strengths. Simply put, you have to be thorough and consciously "cunning". Battles are a life and death situation. It is get victorious or die trying. You have to be fully aware of the consequences of losing; and fully aware of the reward of winning. All these advice applies strongly when fighting a human enemy; but to survive a spiritual enemy, you must be ten times thorough, strategic and wise especially when fighting an enemy as strong and deceptive as satan! .
I haven't fought a physical battle before; but fighting a spiritual enemy as dangerous as the devil everyday has accorded me the need to learn the rudiments of winning a war. Number one rule is to know your enemy. The Bible said we should not be ignorant of the devices of the devil (2 Cor 2:11). Knowing the devil does not require any mystical practice or study. You don't need to enrol in any occultic or metaphysical class, or attend any secret workshop to know the devices of the devil! You can learn about the devil, discover his modus operandi and greatest strength and weaknesses when you study the Bible. When you study stories of how he fougth against Samson, David, Saul, Elijah, Jesus, etc - when you acquaint yourself with this knowledge, you will learn everything you ned to know about the devil, and how to fight him.
Then next thing is to formulate a winning strategy. The greatest winning strategy against the devil is to put your trust in God; and hand the battle over to God through prayers and faith. The devil can't beat that! When you cast all your cares on God, the devil becomes frustrated. When God is fighting your battle, victory is sure. There is no other way to win the battle over the devil. If you attempt to do it yourself, you will fail woefully. The winning strategy is to let God fight for you!
