Peace to men on earth

"For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." (Luke 2:11,14) This month we have been all the long journey of discovering what God's word has to say about peace. It is our month of peace, and I don't think it was a coincidence that this month happens also to be the month of Christmas. May I use this opportunity to wish you, our beloved readers and your loved ones and family a merry Christmas on behalf of myself and every member of our ministry. May God richly bless your heart as you celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. I always tell people that the power of Jesus does not lie in His birth or even in His death, but in His resurrection! That's why Easter is my favourite Christian celebration. But that is not to undermine the importance of His birth. It was a thing so great and glorious that angels had to turn into willing town criers as they flew all over Bethlehem and the nearby towns telling anyone who cared to listen that a King, a Saviour has been born. And in one of those occasions, they met a group of shepherds, and while addressing them, they said: "peace to men on earth!" .

My greatest interest in this great event of Christ's birth was that the angels said because of it "Glory will go to God on high, and peace will come down to men on earth". The truth is that without the coming of Christ through His birth, we would have known nothing called peace. Peace was only made possible to us and unto to, peace was poured to men on earth who do not even deserve it, we were given the right to be called the children of God all because Christ was born to broker that peace. For unto us a child is born, and unto us a son is given. And the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonder Counselor, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace...

Christ is the harbinger of our peace, the mediator of our peace, the fulfillment of our peace. It is written, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him. All the prophecies that spoke of His birth associated it with peace; and today we have peace because of Christ's birth and because of what He did for us. My sincere wish is just that we do not allow the euphoria of celebrations and festivities cause us to forget the real purpose of our celebration. We have been given peace - peace with God, peace with our fellow men, peace with ourselves. Let's enjoy it. Merry Christmas!
