What is a miracle

Before we talk about experiencing miracles, we need to understand what a miracle actually is. .

Thou art the God that doest wonders.”
Psalm 77:14 (KJV)

A miracle is an extraordinary work of God that goes beyond ordinary human ability or natural expectation.

It is an intervention that reveals God's power and accomplishes something that human strength cannot accomplish on its own.

The Bible is filled with miracles.

The Red Sea parted.

Fire came down from heaven.

The sun stood still.

A widow's oil multiplied.

The blind received sight.

The lame walked.

The dead were raised.

These events were not simply unusual occurrences. They were manifestations of divine power.

However, we must be careful not to define miracles only as spectacular events.

Sometimes we think a miracle must involve something dramatic that everyone can see.

But God's miraculous work can appear in different forms.

A miraculous healing.

A miraculous provision.

A miraculous escape from danger.

A miraculous restoration.

A miraculous opportunity.

A miraculous answer to prayer.

Even the timing of certain events can leave us saying, “Only God could have done this.”

A miracle is ultimately about God's intervention.

It reminds us that God is not limited by the boundaries that limit humanity.

We have limited knowledge.

Limited resources.

Limited strength.

Limited time.

Limited ability.

But God has none of these limitations.

That is why Scripture says:

“Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee.”

The God who created the universe is not intimidated by the problem confronting you.

Your responsibility is not to figure out how God will perform the miracle.

Your responsibility is to trust Him.

You may not know how the Red Sea will open.

You may not know where the provision will come from.

You may not know how the healing will happen.

You may not know how the door will open.

But you can know who you are trusting.

And that is enough.

Reflection

  • Have I limited miracles to only spectacular supernatural events?

  • Where have I seen God's extraordinary intervention in my life?

  • What situation am I currently calling impossible?

Prayer

Father, open my eyes to recognize Your miraculous works. Help me not to limit Your power to what I understand. Teach me to trust You even when I cannot see how You will intervene. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Daily Declaration
