"Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers." (James 1:16, ESV) "But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ." (2 Cor 11:3, NIV) Recently, the Holy Spirit has been taking me through a series of eye opening lessons on the outbreak of satanic deceits and deceptions that have permeated the very fabrics of out modern society. Some of you have read the book I launched this year, "TRUTH: A Life-changing Encounter" where by the grace of God and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit I detailed the way satan has been using lies as his strongest weapon for generations, and where I also explained how we can use the truth as an eternal antidote. Most people just don't get it. They want to take everything at its face value. They can't make the effort to read between the lines. There is more to everything than meets the eyes. We begin a new lesson on satanic deception today. God bless you as you read. .
The Igbo say that "an old woman does not get rusty in a dance she has been dancing since she was young". How true, even for our archenemy the devil. If the devil were to have an area of specialization, it would be deception. Sometimes I marvel at how the apostles in the first century were warning people and lamenting about false teachers, and deceivers in their time. They should come now and see what is become of our own generation! The deception has more than quadrupled!. There is an epidemic of deception all around. And people couldn't care less whether something is right or wrong - all we care about is whether it is popular. How many people are doing it? Is my favourite musician or musician doing it? If a celebrity is doing it then it must be right. Our society has been bewitched beyond repair so much that those who dare to tell people they are being deceived are seen as social misfits!
We have become like the proverbial ostrich that buried its head in the sand to hide from its predator without knowing that the rest of its body is above ground. We tend to believe that if we can't see them, they can't see us. If we approach it with a pure heart, then the evil attached to it will not affect us. I am sure Eve thought the same thing that day at the garden of Eden when the serpent presented her with an option to disobey God.
We have made our own brazen calfs and worshipped them - from Great American Idol show to Big Brother Nigeria. We are inventing new ways to celebrate depravity. Join me in these few days as we unravel the deceptions of the devil in our society. May God bless you real good. Until then, "Do not be deceived!"
