"Now when Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the house. The priests could not enter into the house of the Lord because the glory of the Lord filled the Lord’s house. All the sons of Israel, seeing the fire come down and the glory of the Lord upon the house, bowed down on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave praise to the Lord, saying, 'Truly He is good, truly His lovingkindness is everlasting.'" (2 Chro. 7:1-3, NASB) One of the words used in conjunction with glory is the word "Shekhinah" which is an English transliteration of a Hebrew word meaning dwelling or settling or abiding! This word is used to denote a situation when the presence of God comes to abide in His temple to the extent that it becomes physically visible. A situation when the presence of God is so real that you can literally touch it. A situation when you feel so immersed in the glory that you can't see anything else. It is an engulfing presence - the shekhinah! .
I am amazed each time I come across our key passage. The Bible says that after Solomon prayed, fire - physical fire (everybody saw it) came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering, and (underline this) the glory of the Lord filled the house. The fire was the vehicle through which the glory descended. It pleased God to physically manifest His glory to the point that people could feel it. The Bible said when the fire came down, the glory of God filled the whole house.
Now this is not a figure of speech. This is not like when the Bible talks of the glory of God in spiritual sense. No, this time the physical presence actually filled up the house that there was no more room for people to enter. The whole pews were occupied by the glory of God. The aisles were jampacked with the glory of God. Even the priest could not sit in the special seats reserved for ministers - there was no space on the pulpit and altars. The glory of God had filled everywhere! When God manisfested His glory in this unusual way, the Bible says the people bowed down on the pavement and plastered their faces to the ground. This week God is about to release a glory that will cause your enemies to hide their faces. The glory of God is about to fill every aspect of your lives so much that there will be no room for satan and his cohorts. I speak the glory of God upon your life. Receive the indwelling and abiding presence of God. Receive the Shekhinah glory in Jesus name.
Prayer
Lord, I pray for a manifestation of your shekinah glory upon every aspect of my life in Jesus name. Amen
