God of all comfort

"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort" (2 Cor 1:3) That is an amazing phrase: theGod of all comfort. The operative word, for me, here is "all" comfort. I want to take for granted that the question of whether Christians will suffer or not has been resolved. The Bibles states and confirms at various times that Christians will suffer. The Lord Jesus whom we all claim to follow also stressed this point. But one thing we have to know for sure is that our suffering is not purposeless. That Christians will suffer does not imply that God has abandoned us to the mercies of the devil. It doesn't mean that the devil can wake up anytime he likes and afflict us. No! That is so far from the truth. What it does mean is that in order to take us where we need to be in His will and purpose, God will sometimes use persecutions, sufferings and things that will not seem comfortable and pleasant to us at the time. Not "may" but "will". Nevertheless, we would go through them and get to where He wants us to be. And He is the God of all comfort, meaning that none of our suffering no matter how small or great will go uncomforted. So we can rest assured in His perfect will, plan and purpose that for every suffering, He has already built a comfort zone in advance..

Apostle James said we should count it all joy when we pass through suffering, persecutions or trying moments because our sufferings are never in vain (James 1:2). God does not allow any suffering to come to us unless it is meant to work out His purpose for our lives. So don't be afraid of the suffering. You will not suffer the suffering that is meant for another person; and no one will suffer your own. We all have our path and place mapped out clearly in God's plan ad purpose. Many years ago when I couldn't get admission into a university, it was a great trying moment for me because I had the childhood dream of being a mechanical engineer even though I had no idea what it meant to be a mechanical engineer at the time. I was brilliant and one of the best students in any school I attended. I would pass JAMB impressively but when it was time for admission something will always come up to make me lose the admission. It was easy to blame the devil for this and to fast and pray against every demon "blocking" my destiny; and believe me, I did! But one day, God told me clearly to go apply to the polytechnic in my town of residence because that polytechnic was part of His plan for my life! I was ashamed and embarassed, but I obeyed God. And God has really comforted me in that regards. Those who laughed at me then are no longer laughing!

Are you afflicted? Are you in pain? Are you in suffering? Are things not going your way? Rest assured that God is in control; and He will comfort you for your suffering. Nothing can deny God's purpose for your life as long you remain in Him. Say to the weary, your God will surely come!
