"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psa 27:1) .
In a world filled with uncertainty, it is easy to live in fear and self doubt. But God reminds us that we have no need to fear. Fear is not of God. Fear is of the devil. Fear is the absence of faith.
"Fear not", is a recurring injunction in the scripture. And in some occasions, it was put as a command, "Fear not!".
The scripture gives us three reasons why we must not be afraid.
1. The Lord is your light. Darkness is symbolic with uncertainty. Lack of sight. If your fear stems from fear of something you don't know, you can be sure that God will be your light.
2. The Lord is your salvation. If you found yourself in a difficult position or in any trouble, God will save you. If you are afraid because of a known or an impending danger, you have no need to fear because God is your salvation. He will save you.
3. Lastly, God is the stronghold of your life. A stronghold is a refuge, or a place of safety. The greatest fear in life is the fear of death. God wants you to know that your life is not easy to terminate or destroy because it is safe in a stronghold. God is that fortress! The Bible says our life is hidden in Christ and Christ in God (Col 3:3). Do not be afraid of death, because nobody can kill you.
Live your life without fear. Love your life with complete trust and faith in God.
